Progress for tree project!

So I've taken a complete step back from my original ideas and tackled it from a new approach. I wanted to experiment with the notion of age, and how human age correlates with a tree's age.

Keep in mind this is still pretty prelim (and the clipart used is super pixelated - will get much better res photos).

I've got a personal image/diorama of the tree from Wey in the background with a blue filter in front of it/with an effect on that.

Any feedback would be great!

  1. Really love the idea and it looks great so far. Would love to see even more stages of life included.

  2. You've done a good job bring the age of humans and the age of trees together. I would like to see the figures bigger, but this is great for a prelim piece.

  3. I love the blending of trees with people. Great concept. I think it will turn out very well once you have your pic with better resolution.

  4. This is a good idea, and like Darcey said, it would do well to include a wider scope of the human life cycle (perhaps in a round shape connected to tree rings?)

  5. Really nice color scheme in the trees! I really like the blues and yellows, they work together in a way that makes the image look more like a memory or a mental image rather than just a straight photograph.

I am also using the same imagery in my project and its nice to see how someone else is handling it. I like the trees placed in the silhouettes of the humans. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

  6. I really like your idea. I think including the tree growing inside the human silhouettes are great. I'm also really liking your color scheme.

  7. I agree with everything said so far! Colors, silhouettes, trees.. all are working very well. I'd like to see more stages as well, and maybe a different transition/connection between the background and the people... rather than just a layer placed on a background. I'm also curious about the one that seems like a dancer/leaping? It's a very intriguing gesture/figure but it doesn't completely relate just yet... maybe this will work more if you add more stages of life? Good choice with the long skinny shape of the whole image. Looking forward to seeing more.

  8. I think your concept works really well and I like the idea of tree growth as a person gets older because it suggests a different kind of growth than physical. The increasing complexity in the figures is interesting and maybe you could try extending the roots outside of their bodies just to experiment, or playing around with backgrounds that emphasize them. I agree with Caroline that it would be fun to see some of them in action.
